About Ribbons

Ribbon’s Ladies Game Fishing Club is based in Cairns, Queensland, Australia – a unique environment nestled between the mountain ranges of the Atherton Tablelands, and the Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef is the World’s largest coral reef system, with nearly 3000 individual reefs and 900 islands.
With the best reef in the world comes the best fishing in the world, and it’s in the sparkling tropical waters of Far North Queensland that Ribbons Ladies Game Fishing Club commenced in 1984.
Cairns premier fishing club, run by women, for women!
History
In 1983, a group of adventurous women came up with the idea of a women’s only fishing tournament, giving them the opportunity to experience what was predominantly a male-orientated recreational past-time.
Interest grew and in December 1984, the very first Ribbon’s Ladies Fishing Tournament was held.
There was a uniqueness about the competition which sparked national and international interest and over the next few years, the club and the tournament grew substantially.
Today, Ribbon’s Ladies Game Fishing Tournament rivals some of the largest fishing tournaments in Australia, and as we prepare for our 40th anniversary, 2023 is shaping up to be our biggest yet!
